OMG MY EYES!!!

The petcock is stuck and has to be cleaned. This whole carb was so gummed up I had to spray it down and use a mini lever to move the internals.

This stuff cleans the carbs well, but tastes bad and burns eyeballs.

Don't forget the PPE. Between aerosol carb cleaner and the bucket of yuck, my eyes burn and my tongue is stingy.

Charging the new battery for the GL1100 today, and trying to make headway with the mystery problem with the XL125.

I stink.

5 minutes to fix

Happy Camper

Lower middle of the picture is the side stand switch. wires were removed. I connected them to get the light to go out and taped them up as a temp fix.

Thought I'd get started on the XL125/ removed the seat to find a mud wasp nest.

No battery! Just a jumper to complete the circuit and ride!

Well as you can see, Jake is a werewolf.
After that shock this morning, I kept trying to get out to the garage to look over the GS some'mo.
I didn't get much time. Maybe tomorrow. Picking up the new battery in the morning.
Have an air-box coming for the GS, still have to get it to turn over.

Mind as slow as the body is fat

Ricks Popocycle's battery needs replaced, but still can be charged enough to troubleshoot some stuff. Plugged it in and turned the ignition key on, we have lights.

The side stand light stays lit, and when the button is pressed to start there is nothing. no clicks or ticks. Went through the rats nest in the front and removed the old police fairing harness.

All of this took longer than needed because I want to sleep. Foggy mind.

Went through and checked connectors for cleanliness and made sure they were all the wires going into them were in good shape. Everything looks good.

I am going to look and the kill switch and start switch tomorrow or as soon as I get a chance. If that doesn't help the bike make clicky-clicky noises, I'll probably have to take my pants off and check the side stand switch.

Maybe I should check the side stand first. Its in neutral though so it should start even if the switch says the stand is down.

I'll have to consult the GS map of electrickery.

Need to work on the XL125 too, see if it is worth the cost of repair.

I hope the baby sleeps better tonight.

Xs back on the operating table

After the bill from the welder, I can justify buying a welder if I build another.

Xs on its way home

Jake was scared when the Harley's started revving and he couldn't see me. Put him in the truck bed as I carried the xs out and put it in the truck. Its past nap time though.

83 GS1100GL

$150 Craigslist find. Rick is having me get it back on the road for him. May not take that long, at least not from the outset. Needs an airbox or pod filters, and the wiring gone through. Used to be a Hendersonville Police bike.

Articles from Feb 2012 issue of Rider.

Now as promised, the Rider mag scans on the Adv vstrom and a TN ride. If Isaac doesn't show today, we go to the hospital tomorrow at 530 am and induce labor. By tomorrow I have another son and the world domination starts.

The TN ride looks like we may be able to add any of the stops we may find interesting into the Blue ridge/Dragon trip.

I ran out of deodorant and had to open a spare "Tom's with apricot" I smell like girl.

Cycle World adventure tourer articles

Holy shit that took forever!
Thought you would like to read some articles on adv bikes during a riding comparison.

Reading The Long Way 'Round
They seem way more whiny in the book than they seemed on tv. Still epic, but a bit off putting.

Rider article and a post with more random motor pics coming soon.
