The beginning of the end.

This was the start of the never ending valve check. 6 of the 8 ex valves were on the low side .008" 2 were below spec @ .007". The intakes were worse. Unfortunately i can't get adjustment pucks. Which i found out after i tore it down. Going on 2 weeks now. Just gonna slap it back together for now and maybe take it to the place in Dearborn that works on old Yamaha's.  I'll post more as it goes back together.

  1. Well if that doesn't make you want to wear full leathers and talk to strangers I don't know what will. What about macgyvering it and machining your own pucks/shims?

  2. If I still worked at Knight's, I'd pull the head, take it in and valve job it. Then I could cut the valves to whatever length I want and reuse the old pucks. Damn I should have done this in the beginning of winter...

  3. No. I'm 100% sure that'd never happen. He'd do it for me, but probably cost me $300. I'll just pay American wings that much to do it with the pucks, and get the carbs tuned too. Then I don't have to mess with taking the head off.
